💡 Lightbulb: Balancing Ambition with Self-Care
In our recent Land Steward Alliance meeting, we reflected on the challenges of pursuing big, ambitious projects while maintaining personal balance. We meet monthly, as a group of 20 or so, that are working on meaningful land projects - retreat centers, communities and such to discuss challenges and wins. Here’s what stood out:
1️⃣ Acknowledge the Struggle: Work-life balance is tough, and self-care often takes a back seat when we’re striving for greatness and working on Land Projects that are supposed to help others live in deeper harmony with themselves and the planet.
2️⃣ Practical Tools for Well-Being: Morning routines, mindfulness practices, blocks of time for breaks within the day and week are key. Also taking at least one day a week off for yourself and your family or loved ones. You have to build consistency here or you’ll burn out.
3️⃣ Self-Care is Non-Negotiable: The group agreed—making time for self-care isn’t a luxury; it’s a foundation for sustained success and enjoying the ride. This is a lesson I repeat over and over to my clients, as it had gotten the best of me and countless others I work with in our field from project founders to architects and even investors!
As stewards of the land (and our own lives), let’s remember: growth starts with nurturing ourselves. 🌱
